This is one of my favorite pieces that I've done. It took roughly 100 hours to complete over the course of about six months. This painting was done as a bit of a contrast to the previously completed Wolf painting. While the wolf was meant to be more thoughtful and reflective, the gannets represent a much lighter mood, celebrating life in a painting full of movement. I enjoyed adding the variety of textures that make up this picture - the soft feathers of the birds, the shiny scales of the fish, the bubbles floating to the water's surface, and the ripples of the ocean's waves above.
