A while ago I did a pet portrait of one of our cats for my mom. Soon after, my family urged me to do a portrait of our other cat as well. Instead, I came up with a painting that I believe captures his personality quite well. He is an outdoor cat that often roams the neighbourhood, and as a result we often called him the alley cat. This painting, though inspired by his wanderings and capturing his likeness, is meant to also show a more decrepit and crumbling setting, presenting a darker atmosphere that differs from many other paintings portraying cats as fluffy house animals.
